Our scheme at Halton Castle is the redevelopment of an abandoned public house site, in Westhead, West Lancashire.
The site prior to our development comprised a derelict building and car park
The scheme which is now complete provides 10 affordable new homes, comprising of six semi-detached houses and four apartments in a new cul-de-sac arrangement. Parking for residents is provided in a combination of private and communal parking spaces.
The new homes have been designed to respond to their immediate context , where they will be in close proximity to a number of buildings of a similar height.
• Work started in May 2021
• Building work completed and handed over to the Council in November 2022.
The houses and apartments have been designed with large windows to maximise daylight with all properties benefiting from recessed front entrances to provide shelter and a sense of arrival for the occupant/visitor.
The design has drawn inspiration from local examples of older housing and their typologies, as well as surrounding building components, landscaping and materials.
The Affordable Rent properties are owned and managed by West Lancashire Borough Council.
